Google pixel 8 pro Obsidian
The Google Pixel 8 Pro in Obsidian presents a meticulously refined flagship experience. Its appearance is defined by a matte glass back that offers a subdued elegance, resting within a polished aluminum frame — both refined and durable. The Obsidian finish can appear almost navy or deep anthracite under variable lighting, revealing subtle tonal variation without a glossy sheen.
The display measures 6.7 inches, employing an LTPO OLED panel with a dynamic 1 Hz to 120 Hz refresh rate referred to as “Super Actua.” This yields exceptionally smooth on-screen movement. With a resolution of 1344 × 2992 pixels and pixel density of approximately 489 ppi, the screen achieves razor-sharp clarity. The panel supports HDR10+ and peaks near 2400 nits, ensuring legibility even under bright sunlight. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 covers both front and back surfaces, bolstering scratch and drop resistance.
At its core, the Pixel 8 Pro runs on Google’s proprietary Tensor G3 system-on-chip, built on a 4 nm process. It features a nona-core CPU and Immortalis-G715s MC10 GPU, paired with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Storage configurations include 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and, exclusively in Obsidian, a 1 TB version. Google promises seven years of software updates, including operating system upgrades, security patches, and Feature Drops — among the most extensive guarantees in the industry.
Photographic capabilities are comprehensive. The rear system comprises a 50 MP wide sensor with optical image stabilization and phase detection autofocus, a 48 MP periscope telephoto with 5× optical zoom, and a 48 MP ultrawide sensor. Camera features include Best Take, Magic Eraser, Ultra HDR, Astrophotography, Super Res Zoom up to 30×, Night Sight, and a host of video enhancements such as Cinematic Pan, 10-bit HDR, slow-motion up to 240 fps, Audio Magic Eraser, and advanced stabilization. The 10.5 MP front-facing camera also supports 4K video recording.
Core features extend to security and versatility: a Titan M2 security chip, simultaneous Face Unlock and in-display Fingerprint Unlock, dual SIM support (nano-SIM and eSIM), IP68 dust and water resistance, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, ultra-wideband connectivity, spatial audio, stereo speakers, reverse wireless charging, and Battery Share capabilities.
The battery is rated at 5050 mAh. It supports 30 W wired and 23 W wireless charging, with an advertised 50 percent charge in 30 minutes. Real-world usage benchmarks show roughly 10 hours of sustained use, approximately two hours more than its predecessor, although heavy usage scenarios may reduce this figure
